The chaplaincy program at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport welcomes you to join us and share in our unique mission!
Chaplain Volunteers
We are looking for caring individuals to join our mission of serving passengers, military personnel and airport employees at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the nation. Lay people as well as ministers and clergy are welcome to join our growing team. Chaplains receive orientation and training at no cost. We ask for 4 hours of time on the same day of the week at the same time. Coverage begins as early as 6 AM and ends around midnight, 7 days a week. Parking is provided and discounts are available from food and merchandise vendors.
Requirements
- Be secure in your own faith and able to respect the faith or belief systems of others.
- Enjoy interacting with and serving people from all backgrounds, encountering people where they are, especially in times of need or anxiety.
- Accept that we do not engage in proselytization and there will be times when using the name of Jesus in prayer may not be acceptable to the person you are reaching out to support.
- Pass a background check by the Transportation Security Administration plus fingerprint background check.
- Be able to physically walk throughout the terminal and ramp areas plus provide your own transportation to and from the airport.
- Attend occasional weekend training programs.
Contact the Rev. Mr. David Reiser at airportchaplain@outlook.com if you are interested in exploring joining our team. Tell us a little about yourself, and we will email you additional information along with an application.
